The school, popularly known as Jawaharlal Nehru Vidyapith (Boys), is managed by Jawaharlal Nehru Vidyapith Trust. 'Jawaharlal Nehru Bhavan', the school building, is also the location for Jawaharlal Nehru Balika Vidyapith, the West Bengal government- aided school for girls. The foundation stone for the school was laid on November 14, 1964, by late Sri Laxman Chandra Singh.
