the Bobbili raja ordered that his wife’s sister Shyamala has to enter the “Kota/Hill” in
Pithapuram road only after having darshan of lord Venugopala Swamy in this temple,
So the village was named as “Syamalakota”. Later on, Pithapuram Raja “Raja Venkata
Maheepati Gangadhara Ramarao Bahadur” has given a lord Venkateswara idol which is carved in "Salagrama" & Sridevi,Bhudevi(golden idols) and also donated several acres of land
