In the Holy region blessed by Saint Shri Dnyaneshwar, who enlightened the world with knowledge and gave message of peace to entire world, the founder of shri Dnyaneshwar co-operative sugar factory and popular leader Late Honorable Shri Marutraoji Ghule Patil felt the need for higher education facilities. He realized that the future of youth in India is entirely dependant on higher education. Keeping this in view, “Shri Marutraoji Ghule Patil Shikshan Sanstha” was established at village Bhende in the year 1979. In order to inculcate scientific approach and provide facilities of higher education to the students hailing from remote village, economically backward and socially deprived classes. The education society has started “Jijamata College of Science” in July 1992. The sociological and cultural need of the students resulted in the commencement of the Arts faculty in the college from June 1994. Jijamata college of Science and Arts, Dnyaneshwarnagar, Bhende, was established in June, 1992, by Shri Marutraoji Ghule Patil Shikshan Sanstha, Dnyaneshwarnagar, Bhende. The college is situated at Bhende village, with the Coordinates 19o27’14”N 75o01’23”E, the heart of 40 villages generally known as Jaikwadi Back-Water region. It aims to provide educational facilities to the economically backward and rehabilitated project affected students. The major objective of this college is to encourage and motivate these classes for intellectual, moral, social and academic growth, to impart education while motivating them to seek higher education. The college campus (25 Acres) is dotted with lush green trees and shrubs all around. It has a most picturesque and inviting atmosphere. The college is permanently affiliated to the University of Pune and is approved under Section 2 (f) and Section 12 (b) of the UGC act. At present the college has 28 teaching and 11 non-teaching administrative staff. The college has Science and Arts faculties and offers instructions at graduate level.
