The college took from the selfless and valiant efforts of two business tycoons of the area Shree Kanhaiya Lal Agrawal and Late Shree Basant Lal Agrawal with the aim of making education accessible to the deserving students of Varanasi and shaping up the futures of these intellectuals in the best possible form, the college was named Kanhaiyalal Basant Lal Postgraduate College in their honor. KBPC, an aegis of the Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapith, a deemed university accorded by U.G.C. in 1963, draws its principles from the National Freedom Struggle, which pulsated during its initial days. The ideals of secularism and socialism are implanted in the hearts of the students in order to curb away the anti-social elements budding in today’s society. The college has been long accounted for top rankers across the university and beyond. The highly efficient administration teamed with an experienced and praiseworthy set of faculties is always on its toes to resolve popping problems and impart the zenith of knowledge in its purest form among the students
