★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Karhandla-Gate Umred -Safari,
about 60 km from Nagpur. This forest is connected with Tadoba, Chandrapur. As per our Safari guide, there are 13 tigers in this Wildlife Sanctuary, but unfortunately we didn't spot any on that day, still it was nice experience and will visit again. Gate opens at 2.00 pm. Only online booking allowed. We spotted wild dogs, bisons, nilgais, deer, monkeys and sambars, also many species of birds including Black Naped Monarch, Tree Pipit, Flameback Woodpecker, Oriental Magpie Robbin, Plum Headed Parakeet, Jungle Fowl, Rufous Treepie, Green Bee Eater.

Tiger siting and Information :
Total Area of park is 190 sq.km
It's a habitats for approximately 5-10 adult royal Bengal tigers. While Dominant male named as "Surya".
Attraction of park :
1. Tiger (Cound 5-10 Adult)
2. Leopard (Count 11)
The Count mentioned are based on information provided by Safari Guide.
Probability of siting tigers are on lower side. Also observed very few antelope species.
Bird counts are also on lower side.
I coud spot only a few birds like Oriental honey buzzard, a lesser spotted eagle and a white eye buzzard.
STAY
Forest resort or MTDC resorts not available. However a few private resorts available near gate but are too costly.
Nearest Hotel is located at Umred bypass Highway named as "Hotel D Mercy".
This is good place to stay, nearly 8km form Karhandla Gate and also most importantly it's pocket friendly.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We visited Umred Karhandla Gate today i.e. on 14th may 22 in the morning, they have increased the rates and changed the timings which is not updated online. For 6 people we had to pay 2050₹ for online booking, 425₹ for local guide in cash, 2500₹ for Gypsy which is a total of ₹5000 without any receipt except online booking + the traveling charges from our residence. Timings mentioned online is 6am to 10am we reached to the Gate at 6.40am, but the actual timings are 5.30am to 9.30am in which they take 30mins brake and took us out at 9.15am itself. Which means we paid 5000₹ for 2hours and not too many animals spotted, tigers not spotted to any of the visitors. We saw Owl, Peacock, Deers, Pigs, 9rang bird, white eye eagle, monkeys, kite, neel gaay, and few other birds.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Dense forest. Great for nature trail but not many animals spotted.. forget about spotting tigers.
This place is comparatively new.. the animals are shy as they are not used to human presence unlike other tiger reserves.
Wouldn't suggest if you really want to spot a tiger because the possibility isn't that great. Sightings are there but not regular.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Umred Karhandla is a very famous jungle destination which is just 50 kilometers from Nagpur. It is a dense forest which is popular for its Tiger sightings. The beast 'Jai' (biggest tigerin size) was from this jungle. In recent times the tigress named 'Fairy' is giving sightings with her 5 cubs at this Jungle.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Lucky to see tiger for about 20-25 min. Guide and safari drivers were cool. They made every effort to show us the tiger and jungle.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The jungle safari experience is kind of ok. This scantuary has less number of animals as compared to other nations parks.
We went during rainy season so even sighting a deer was a difficult task. We didn't even see any peacocks or any other birds. Only thing we saw in safari was few monkeys and butterflies.
Overall experience of green jungle was good.
