★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Being one of tricity’s oldest department stores, Kewal Stores certainly lives up to its name and reputation. Not only is their staff very courteous and helpful, they have a colossal variety of products. A high-end grocery store needs a good health food section, a good junk food aisle, a wide array of frozen foods, and bakery, and Kewal Stores offers just that. Especially after it recent facelift, its a must visit (special mention for their catchy playlist).I have always found products here, that I wouldn’t find at any other department store in Chandigarh. During the period of national lockdown due to covid-19, I didn’t see any other “essential” store of the city going out of their way to risk their lives and serve the people by delivering groceries door-to-door, and I am very grateful for them to be the first to do that. Thank you for your impeccable service! Its a 5/5 for you, always.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ While the world moves forward at a tremendous pace, Kewal Stores, for all its shine and sheen, has yet to keep up. They are currently learning about an app called Google Pay and online payments are still a mystery and source of wonder to them.
I paid INR 70 of my total bill of ~INR 1,200 using Google Pay and was almost held hostage until they were sure the amount was received on the owner's phone. This process of awaiting confirmation from the owner took 20+ minutes. I had shown them the payment confirmation I had received on my phone and waited a reasonable 5 mins for the owner to receive confirmation on his phone. After 5 mins, I left the shop and a stressed out security guard came running after me because they were still not sure if they would ever receive 70 rupees.They were scared that I somehow had the power to reverse the transaction after exiting the shop and could deprive them of the 70 rupees which had already been debited from my account.
Can somebody please enlighten them on the online payment process?
