license of this snake has been expired a long back. It is situated on Badu Road, 20 minutes driving distance drom Madhyam Gram Chowmatha. Auto Service , toto and 93 route bus service can be availed to go to this place. Now a days it is used as picnic garden and dating park. Once upon a time it was one of the prime attraction of this locality. Many local shops and refreshment centers were there , but since the snakes has been taken by the forest dept. it is almost a dead park.

This park does not exist as a snake park. I guess it was owned by the Rose Valley projects, and after they got into scam all their properties were banned including this snake park. PLEASE DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME BY VISITING THIS PLACE AS IT DOES NOT EXIST NOW.

The name of the place should be change because there is no snake in the garden. There are present only few number of birds which you can see here. The ticket price is 25/person. And the garden turned basically a lover's point. I don't recommend to visit here if you want to see snakes. Very worst place. #snake #garden

The owner of Snake Park lost his license so it has taken by the Govt. Now there is nothing left except some tortoises and birds. The entry fee is 25 and the large Snake Park lost the charm, beauty & fresh atmosphere. Now Snake Park has lost his importance and identities. It is now a normal place like the other parks in this area. I don't recommend this place if you're planning to go there to spend holiday. History of Snake Park: Calcutta Snake Park was established on 2nd October 1977. It was inaugurated by Mr. Parimal Mitra (Honorable Minister of Forest, Govt. of West Bengal) and Mr. Ram Chatterjee (Honorable Minister of Civil Defense, Govt. of West Bengal) who was the chief guest. Calcutta Snake Park was founded by Mr. Dipak Mitra. Being a young wildlife enthusiast with a special affinity towards reptiles he was maintaining 4-5 boxes of snakes in his garden of his ancestral home in Badu. Snakes were wildly feared all over the country as being potential human killers. Although Hindu religion and culture paid high respect to snakes yet the terrifying stories of snakes hunting down people to kill them have corrupted their reputation. Snakes other than those exhibited by snake-charmers were killed at first sight. Also snakes and other reptiles were hunted down by people to support the leather and other industries. India was rich in reptiles but poaching and habitat loss has decimated their population.

It's quite and beautiful place to explore. The neighbouring area is also worth to visit. Best place for meditation and those who like to spend time with their close partner in serenity.

The owner of this place has lost his license and hence the snakes have been taken away by the west bengal wildlife department leaving behind only a couple of red ear slider turtles and some birds. The entry fee is Rs 25. Largely this once much coveted snake park has lost its charm and is now serving as a dating place for couples.
