Surely one will think it's a dump(people did used to throw their garbage here)... but it's one of those terracotta temple only left in Kolkata; 300 years old, made be the Ghosh Jaminders(Babulal Ghosh,Ratan Lal Ghosh)....don't know much of it,but it's awesomely old.

It was evening and I was just on a stroll in this area where I amazingliy discovered this place. There are three on a row terracotta Shib temples, not sure of its age but ruins indicate it should be atleast 200 years or more. Another one not in same row but very close to them facing M.S. SEN road, and seems to be bit maintained with lights inside. Fresh Bel pata on the শিবলিঙ্গ suggests daily worship happens here. Another one on the other side of the road away from rest 4 is larger, well maintained, surrounded by trees standing tall amongst the regular flat buildings of a typical Kolkata para. Such terracotta temples are common in Bishnupur or atleast in Kolkata outskirts, 24 pgns but not in municipal area of Kolkata. It seems no one really interested of heritage restoration or mere local history here. But this place is a must visit for persons who loves heritage, local historical facts.

Build in the late 11th century, these 4 temples stand together, albeit one has been renovated and other 3 lies in ruins. Built in the terracotta style, Bishnupur, this architecture is not found anywhere anymore. Located in a small alleyway close to NanuBabu Bazaar, Tollygunge. These temples need urgent repairs and restoration before they get lost in time. This place is always open for prayers and visit. Avoid night hours.
