Bargaining skills matter for shopping gold and the quality is arguably doubtful. Better to go to branded showrooms.

If you want to know about Hotel New Costis, Reading Room, Lakshmi Theatre, Town Hall, Brothers ITI, Lord Venkateswara Temple, Kanne Mariamma Temple, Durga Devi temple on the foot of Dolphins Nose Hill (all are 1960s places) you can see now also.
