From Rajahmundry 20 km away towards gummalla doddi - Gokavaram. This is the punyakshetram of Vaishnava Sampradaya and also the historic temple. The name of the shrine is derived in the Telugu language from the words, ‘ Koru ‘ meaning desire and the word ‘ Konda ‘ meaning mountain. It can, therefore, be called a desirable mountain, or a shrine where God instantly listens to his followers ‘ pleas and grants their desires. Lord Narasimha Swamy’s most significant idol here. He is known in this shrine by the word, ‘ Satvika Narasimha ‘ as he is always accompanied by his wife, Goddess Lakshmi. In this village, there are two shrines devoted to Lord Narasimha Swamy. The first can be discovered atop a mountain, whereas the other shrine can be foot of the hill. One shrine is a Swayambhu out of the two, while the other is manually built . The self-emerging idol is situated on the mountain at an altitude of about one hundred and twenty meters (120 mts). The idol shrine discovered on the mountain is approximately nine inches (9 inch) high. It is said that the great sage Sri Srinatha in his poetry stated that Korukonda is "Vedadri". And this belief is said to be supported by the shila shasanam inscripted in the year1443 A.D

ONE OF THE BEAUTIFUL AND FAMOUS ANCIENT TEMPLE, SRI LAKSHMI NARASIMHA SWAMY TEMPLE. Korukonda is a village in the Korukonda mandal of East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh. Here lies the divine temple of Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy. There are two temples. One is at the foot of the hill and one is on top of the hill. KORUKONDA, Have to Climb 615 steps to reach the temple on Hill,it's a wonderful experience climbing up the 615 steps to see the Swaybhuu Swamy. Praakara mandpas and pillars signifies the age. Coming out we turn towards the mandapam around the Garbha Gruha. It is so beautiful. It is entirely sculpted with images of the Dasavataras, Ramayana and partly depicts the rulers.

Visited today with family. I can say, this is one of the best anicient temple the people doesn't aware even in Godavari districts. Must visited place those who can climb the straight steps. Timings sunday: 09.30 to 12.00. While stepping you may feel difficulty, once you reached the temple you can feel the great energies around the temple. The most observing part is, the temple carvings & sculptures as per Aagamasastra. Also, Lakshmi Narasimha syayambhu, at the entrance of steps visit Anantha Padmanabha swami temple at right side. Carry the water bottle that you will feel thirsty. Spend time and grab the great energies.

Very good temple located at peaceful environment. There are two temples, one at down hill and another temple at uphill and need to climb 600+ steps to reach there. Uphill temple will be open from 9.30 AM to 12 noon. Be sure to reach uphill before 12 to see the diety Lakshmi Narsimha Swamy. Very old temple with ancient carvings on rock. You will be feel much lighter and relaxed when you visit the place. Not much facilities available uphill, so be sure to carry driking water when taking kids. It's better to reach early to avoid sun.
