★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This monument was the palace of the Holkars built with French marble pillars and expanded over by three generations of the Tukoji Kings the last of whom lived here until 1978 when he passed away leaving the estate to his Indian successor Usha Raje. His third wife, a French woman passed away in 1993. The palace has an entrance similar to that of Buckingham palace. The architecture has been adapted from the European style and it's lighting is entirely concealed replete with false ceiling. In order that there be no damage due to fire, the kitchen was housed separately with a river flowing in between. The cooked food used to be brought through an underground tunnel, reheated and served. There was a manually operated lift through which the food was brought to the dining room. The dining room was a spacious one good enough for 100 people to dine at a time. There is a dance floor with electrically operated springs beneath the wooden floor. You just cannot miss the billiards and the reading room. The bedrooms are all on the floors above. Separate entrances for the men, common folk and the royal women is another remarkable feature. How can one forget the sprawling gardens with artefacts from different parts of the world and once housed by fountains.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ No photography allowed inside, I've no idea why!! I visit a place after reading the reviews and looking at the pictures.
Anyway, there is really nothing much to see here. Development work is going on, several chambers are not open to the general public, and the general upkeep in the surroundings is not very good. There are huge open spaces which could have been converted into gardens, to welcome more people.
The staff are also not very hospitable, they aren't exactly rude, but they aren't helpful either, which leaves a bad taste!!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great place to visit with family and friends, you'll definitely receive a glimpse of royalty and luxury in the Palace. Your mobile phones will be submitted by the guard at the entrance that means you only have to absorb the stunning beauty of the palace by your eyes. And the Entry ticket cost around 10 ruppes per person.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This was the Palace where the last Dynasty of Highness used to stay may be temporarily or permanently. The entire property is really huge, however only a small proportion of it is accessible. The ticket fare is minimal, phone or camera is not allowed inside and it would take a maximum of around 30-40 minutes to complete the entire tour. However, I was very disappointed as the place was very badly managed, most of the paint had faded away, the building was falling apart, the antiques in the Museum were completely degraded (apart from wooden antiques), and the staff wasn't proactive as well. You can visit here but there are chances of disappointment.

Renovation work of the royal palace is underway. Photography is prohibited.Mobiles and other cameras will be deposited at the time of entering the palace. There are two floors open for visiting.
There is a park next to and behind the royal palace, where there are benches for sitting. A place to visit with family.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The palace is so beautiful.
The marbles and the tiles used inside are one of the best I have ever seen. The palace will give you a feel and journey of how king and queen must have lived and what their days must have been like !
From their grand Dining area to their grand dressing rooms. Everything is elegant.
Photography isn't allowed inside, as they take your phone and store it with them.
But it is definitely a must visit when in indore.
