This is my second visit because the last stay in 2019 was good. But it is just ridiculous now, in its current form. Some good parts as this might be enough for you- 1. Some washrooms are clean 2. Dorms are manageable to an extent 3. Location is excellent ####### Now the ridiculous part- In short, it has none of the advantages that we looked for in a travellers’ hostel. No backpacking crowd experience. Not as affordable as they used to be. And management has gone nuts, they are more of a warden now rather than an experienced traveller. ####### In detail - 1. Cancellation policy is 28 days. It’s ridiculous for a travellers’ hostel. Might make sense for a paying guest which Locomo does look like now. Gamble for a traveller though. 2. Change of beds - vacate current bed and drawer and wait at the reception with your luggage for the new bed for 2 hours. Unnecessary. 3. Not a safe space - women are constantly complaining about men harassing them, looking inside the female dorm. There are obnoxious people who will loudly talk to their food if they have no one else to speak to, as if they are on stage and you are an audience. Today a guy was yelling at his phone on the terrace and was audible in the market 4 stories down. Terrace and reception sitting area is shut after midnight. So I found myself sitting and eating peacefully in the common area, only to be disturbed by a man, definitely beyond Locomo’s age policy, who barged in, swearing at the staff, looked drunk and decided to watch a loud horror movie on the projector there. He called more people on the phone and just like that the common area was packed with people including visitors, without masks and this is AFTER MIDNIGHT. Don’t get me wrong, hostels do host movie nights but they are generally planned, communicated and are in the evening. So where does one go after a long day of socialising or to figure further travels or just to speak to someone on phone because you cannot talk in dorms? Locomo don’t have a solution. This is when the manager shamed me for not being social enough for a hostel. 4. ACs leak all over beds (a dorm mate’s laptop narrowly escaped drowning) and ACs are shut for some random hours in the day (remember how parents would shut your fan to wake you up?) 5. You need to go down to the reception, wait for the manager to get free from the telephone conversation, get a slip and then give it to the kitchen, even for a tea. 6. Long term residents have blocked the lower beds, travellers need to suffice with upper beds. 7. Hygiene- linen based hygiene is bad. My second bed had a bedsheet with dead insects on it. Common room has visibly dirty linen (blackish). Blankets provided aren’t washed after use so be ready to sleep with someone else’s snot. 8. There is no ‘clean after yourself’ policy and staff doesn’t clean the furniture well. So all table and sitting furniture in areas where you are allowed to sit and eat, almost always is dirty. 9. Footwear policy is inconsistently followed. So if you don’t follow it, the wardens will bark at you. If you do, you will be rewarded with black feet/socks because most long term residents don’t follow it and the floor is sticky and dirty. ####### I have stayed in a lot of backpackers’ hostels in India and abroad and I even volunteered at a backpacker’s hostel during my break from corporate in 2019. The latter was in Mumbai and had simple and smart solutions for every single point made above. So I would recommend not staying at Locomo and rather leave this property for who they favour the most, the paying guests.

The stay during September 2021 was good beyond our expectation considering the budget. The facility is at very convenient place and nicely maintained with cordial staff. They have a nice open terrace, an entertainment room etc. That time maintenance works were going on and hence had a few disturbances due to that.

Nearby Ville Parle station so commute to hostel and from hostel is not a hassle. Staff are friendly and sweet, very cooperative and understanding. 6 Bed dorm is large and spacious. Wifi is Available in all areas. Food which is served in cafeteria is expensive but the quantity and quality is splendid. I stayed for 2 weeks and it felt like home away from home.

Booked a non-shared room for few nights. Short but amazing stay - wish could have stayed longer. Great energy, great vibes. Traveling with family - very safe area for women. Will have to come back soon!

Stay experience was satisfactory. Staff was friendly and cooperative. Cleanliness was awesome, I would rate cleanliness and organisation like never seen before in any hostel in India. Everything was spaced out and wasn't congested. Bathroom wasn't filthy at all even though many residents were using the same bathroom. One thing that put me off was the room mates - most of them were long-term residents and had their own set of rules. So apart from the rules of hostel, their rules were obligatory. So make sure you select room where the room mates aren't staying there permanently.

Location is perfect. The price was too high for the service that they provided. Terrace is shut post midnight and the worst part was there was a mouse outside our room and there are a lot of mosquitoes inside the room and even in the premises. Had booked a private room which was apparently accommodating 4 people but they had given 1 blanket and there was space for 3 people. Would recommend another property in the same budget.

Hostel is good - good location as the railway station is just a minute walk from the hostel and the domestic airport also is like 5 minutes away by auto. Lots of restaurants around. Good for shopping as small and branded stores are just at the corner. Clean hostel. Good facilities. Comfortable stay. Friendly staff. Just try to coordinate with their staff before booking the room as few of their guests are long term residents and they've their own set of rules so if you happen to land up in their room then you also have to abide by their undeclared rules

Am Chennai looked for a best stay for 21days and find Locomo through google and done with my bookings. Once I reached the place it is near to airport and Vile Parle railway station.. the atmosphere was too good which gives u the feeling of home and the staffs also behave as family members they care a lot and the service for the room is amazing they use to clean room everyday and don’t worry abt temperature the air conditioning always keeps you cool… even they their own rules which are yet to be followed for benefits of out dormitory was good and it’s nice initiative to have pets along with you… the prepare the fresh dishes daily u can buy that according to your taste. They have 24hrs reception area and a common area where we can sit and chat with other dormitories… thanks Locomo for the best accommodation ?
