★ ★ ★ ★ ★ One of the oldest and serene places with a natural aquifer in Vizag. Legend says that priests from Simhachalam used to trek all along the now walk way to lit oil lamps at this temple, do worship rites and chant mantras under the supervision of the then kings. We can also see some inscriptions on the rocks on the walk way enroute. At least 15 years ago, areas beyond the temple are once favorite picnic and tourist spots for schools and colleges in and around Madhavadhara. Majority water from the aquifer was diverted to the fields around and to meet sweet water requirements. Small stream of water is left downstream of the temple for bathing, which can be seen now as a waterfall. I was blessed to see the beauty nestled there those days and enjoyed trekking beyond the temple region. Now, the Simhachalam Devastanam had restricted entry beyond the temple and allowing picnic some 100 meters away from trek point. The road once developed from Hanumathawaka to Simhachalam along the hill top was also left neglected. It is a must visit place in Vizag, sadly majority don't know this place at all due to lack of publicity and promotion.
