The cleanliness is compromised due to excessive footfall, presence of unkempt beggars, lack of civic sense in devotees to keep the shrine and it's vicinity clean, lack of adequate facilities to wash oneself and a general lack of adequate awareness on cleanliness. One should observe the standards of cleanliness maintained in the shrines of Northern India such as the Golden Temple or the Durgiyana Temple of Amritsar.
