Good to visit but the arrangement should be little better for devotees to spend some time in temple and Prasadam facility should be there Road should be cleaned outside by removing the encroachment by local street shops

Maa Tarini Temple is the most popular hindu temple in Ghatagaon, Keonjhar district of Odisha. This is one of the largest and most visited Shakti Peeth in Odisha. Also famously known as Ghatagaon Maa Tarini, it is believed that whoever has prayed Maa Tarini and offered her a coconut, she will fulfill his/ her desire. According to legends, Maa Tarini was installed in the year 1480 by the then ruler of Keonjhar, Sri Govinda Bhanjadeo during the Kanchi war. To conquer the Kanchi war, the king of Puri Sri Purusottamdev sought the guidance of Sri Govinda Bhanjadeo. Qith his help the king won the battle and thought of rewarding king Govinda Bhanjadeo. Bhanjadeo asked to take the deity "Maa Tarini" along with him to his Keonjhar state. Kind Purusottam agreed, however asked Bhanjadeo to seek the permission of the diety! After getting permission from Maa Tarini, the king was bringing Maa from Puri to Kendujhar with a condition that if he turns back then she will not move any further. The king was riding a horse and the goddess was following him. King could know Maa Tarini was coming behind him from the sound if her ornaments. Near Ghatagaon in the deep forest the sound of the ornaments did not come and the king looked back forgetting the condition. But Maa Tarini was coming and due to the forest mud, her ornaments sounds were not coming. However due to the condition, Maa Tarini turned herself into a stone and stayed there and worshipped as the queen of the forest. The architecture style of the temple is Kalinga style. The temple is surrounded by the fascinating wild-life and the locality has dense forests around with enormous trees. The temple is shaded with orange and white stones on the outer surface and walls. It also has an arched gateway that looks gigantic and colossal staircase to reach the temple. The rituals performed daily at Maa Tarini temple are. Balyabhoga-6:00am. Khechudi Dhupa (Anna Prasad)-10:30am. Pahada-1:00pm. Sandhya Dhupa (Chakuli Prasad)-5:00pm. Sandhya Arati-7:45pm. Pahada-8:00pm.
