★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This is an old hindu temple dedicated to Mahamaya, one of the manifestations of Mata Durga and is considered a Shakti Peeth. Within the temple complex are a couple of very old temples by the side of a pond, which are now in a dilapidated condition. Surrounding the main temple, there are small temples dedicated to other gods and godesses. In general, the temple complex is neat and clean. It is located at Ratanpur, about 25 kms from Bilaspur (Chattisgarh) , which is an important railway station.
It is well connected from Bilaspur by public transport. During festivals, the main road is congested, but at other times there is a parking space for cars. There are many small shops and small restaurants nearby.
About 5 to 7 kms before reaching the temple from Bilaspur , there is a small temple dedicated to Bhairav Baba. As per custom, devotees offer their prayers to Bhairav Baba and then proceed to Mahamaya Mandir.
About 3 kms further to Mahamaya temple, there is an old temple dedicated to Lord Rama, which is located on a hilltop from where one can enjoy the surrounding view.
