★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Surgana State was a princely state of the Bombay Presidency during the era of the British Raj. It was the only state belonging to the Nasik Agency. Its capital was Surgana in Nashik District of present-day Maharashtra. It was ruled by Pawar dynasty.
Surgana State's last ruler signed the instrument of accession to join India in March 1948.
M. G. Vidyamandir’s Arts, Science & Commerce College, Surgana is permanently affiliated to Savitribai Phule Pune University, Pune. The college was established in 1992 for providing higher education to the tribal community who were socially and economically deprived. The college runs Art’s, Science and Commerce faculties on granted basis. The college is affiliated to Savitribai Phule Pune University, Pune and is approved under section 2 (f) and 12 (b) of UGC act. The college has its own building sufficient classrooms and laboratory, Library and Gymkhana facilities to impart quality education to students. The college was accredited with B Grade, by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) Bangalore setup by the UGC.
