★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Roles of MDO : He is the Executive Officer of the Mandal Parishad. It is his primary responsibility to see that requests for Project Approvals from Gram Panchayats are scrutinised in time, defects rectified and presented to the Parishad for approval of the Parishad. In cases where two or more Panchayts are involved, he should consult the respective Panchayat Pradhans and Secretaries and co-ordinate the actions to make the Project viable. It is also one of the functions of Mandal Parishad’s Develoopment officer to ensure that development targets set for the different Gram Panchayats and for the Mandal area as a whole ar achieved and difficulties ,if any are taken up with the Zilla Panchayat or District Administration, as the case may be. The MPDO is the last level Gazetted Officer with specific delegated power and authority to make things happen at the Grass Roots level.
