Even 15 years after Independence, the people of Odisha in Rural areas were conservative in outlook. They didn't allow their teenaged girl children to continue their study in high school because the high schools in the vicinity were offering Co-Education. As a result many a girl student had to nip their dreams of higher study in the bud as they had to quit school education midway after class 7. So the need of setting up a Girls' High School in Mangalpur was arised.
