As per historians it is said that this temple was built by Surya putar Karan while he was on search for pandavas during their exile . Pandav were hiding in caves around this temple and one such cave was noticed by a common man 4 km before temple . As per his version one day in sleep Vaishnoo Mata appeared in his dreams and gave clue about that cave where later on he found pindi and other regious items. It is well connnected by road from Palampur and Baijnath . So worth visiting place while you are on tour to Kangra.

People came here from different parts of the country ... Situated 25 kms from Panchrukhi ( Kangra ) ... I recommend book a taxi to come here it will save your time ... Road is only one way so whenever u came here drive carefully bcoz deep gorge is their at one side of road that cause serious injuries or death also ... Once u reach the temple ... U will feel really happy and positive ... U must visit this peaceful place.

Great view from here all around on a clear day..Beas river and Dhauladhar Range can be seen clearly from here..Less crowded..Toilets available along the path..Shops available..Parking area is enough..Temple is about 600m approx. by foot from the parking area..Roads are almost metalled but single laned mostly.. Careful drive needed.. Don't litter here and there and Enjoy the visit.. Jai Mata Di..!! ???

During the Dvapar era, Pandavas had spent some days in the caves named Malli, about 4 km from Mata Ashapuri during their unknown exile. It is said that when Karna reached Mali caves to dissolve the Pandavas’ exile, he could not find Pandavas there, but the Mata Ashapuri was seen in this cave. Karna found Pindi of Mata Ashapuri and built a magnificent temple there, which is famous today as Mata Ashapuri temple.

Few points to remember while traveling: 1.Eat light food as the road is having sharp curves which can make to dizzy and feel like vomiting. 2.Drive with you vehicle only if you are an experienced driver as road is having many blind spots and uphill drive. DONT take your vehicle if your are a new driver or don't have experience for hill driving. 3.Make sure to blow horn on every turn.

U can reach by road or by trekking route which is around 6 Km from maharaja nagar. The temple was built by Pandavas during dwapar yug. But rebuilt by Katoch king in 16 century.
