★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Ambad Matsyodari Devi Temple is a famous Shakthi Devi temple, situated in Ambad town, Jalna District, Maharashtra. The name of the deity and the temple is derived from the shape of the hill which resembles a fish and is one of the oldest temples in the Jalna district. Matsyodari means “Matsya” fish and “Udar” stomach.
The main deities are Maha Lakshmi, Maha Saraswati and Maha Kali, together known as Matsyodari Devi. The Matsyodari Devi temple is the only temple after Vaishno Devi which is located in Jammu and Kashmir where the “Tridevi” is present under one roof.
It is well known in Maharashtra as well as in India. This temple was built by Raja Ambarish and hence named Ambad. Raja Ambarish was a Hindu raja who allegedly hid in a cave on the hill to escape the responsibility of running the government. Later, the restoration of the temple was carried out by Ahilyabai Holkar of the Holkar dynasty.
The Matsyodari Devi temple is located some 21 km from the city of Jalna, at Ambad on a hill that looks like a fish. It is one of the oldest temples in the area and hosts a fair during the time of Navrathri every year.Ambad is a Tahsil and town with many half destroyed walls, gateways and buildings. According to local traditions, the town of Ambad was found by Amba Rishi, a Hindu Raja who was believed to have hidden in a cave of the hill to escape from the responsibility of running the government.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ There are two entrances to the temple. Both are open and near to temple. On first entrance you will find more traffic and rush while on second entrance there is lesser rush and traffic.
In side there are beautiful gardens and photo points available.
Nice place for a family visit.
