★ ★ ★ ★ ★ aulana Azad National Institute of Technology (MANIT) is an Institute of National Importance. It was formerly known as Maulana Azad College of Technology (MACT), which was India's one of the first eight Regional Engineering Colleges. The institute has been named after the great educationist and the first education Minister of Govt. of India, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad. The institute is situated in the heart of Bhopal on a beautiful plateau with a verdant 650-acre campus. Bhopal, the capital of Madhya Pradesh is well connected by rail, road and air with all parts of the country. The climate of Bhopal is moderate with temperature ranging from 10 to 45oC.
The Institute was established with the joint efforts of the Govt. of India and Govt. of Madhya Pradesh in September 1960, to attract bright young students from across the country. The Govt. of India, Ministry of Human Resource Development, New Delhi, has upgraded the Institute as National Institute of Technology w.e.f. 26th June, 2002. Institute celebrated its Golden Jubilee year in the year 2010.
There are 17 departments of teaching and research in the institute. All the Engineering and Science departments have well equipped modern laboratories for experimental work. At present Institute is running 09 UG programs in (B.Tech./B.Arch./B.Plan.), Institute also runs PG program in MCA, MBA in addition to 30 PG programmes in M.Tech. Institute also conducts Ph.D programme in Engineering, Science, Management, Humanities and Social Sciences. Institute has 262 faculty members, 415 supporting staff and nearly 5636students (UG, PG & Ph.D.).
