Indian Subcontinent is having a glorious past and thousands of ancient heritage and monuments are situated in all the directions. Gujrat is such a marvelous treasure of heritage and ancient monuments which are mostly protected and maintained by the Archaeological Survey of India a prominent institution playing a significant role to restore these heritage with the help of UNESCO and other leading Institutions like Baroda Heritage Trust etc. Visit of Nagina Masjid was our listed attraction. Nagina means gem, in fact it is an architectural gem. It was also built in the 15th century under the reign of Sultan Mahmud Begada. During the reign of Sultan Mehmood Begada and earlier the Gujarat Sultans built magnificent mosques and a unique architecture was born during that period which was a fusion of Indian and Islamic Architecture. The carving of this mosque which has been done on the ceiling, arches, minarets and pillars is very beautiful and complex. It's built on an elevated platform. Borders of this platform is also having the carvings of geometrical and floral motifs. To access the main prayer hall the central Archway bounded by the two minarets highly decorated with carvings having narrow spiral staircase as the upper storeys are damaged. And either side of the central Archway are small archways decorated by arched windows and the decorated Mihrab windows ceiling pillars are just spectacular and richly carved. Horizontal carved borders and stone brackets which are also ornate supporting the stone hang outs. Roof is having the three bulb or round shape domes and the central dome is built on first floor supported by decorated stone columns. Central dome is having four small domes on each corner. Protected decorated brackets which are the support for stone hang outs and horizontal corniches are magnificent and notable features. In the Northeastern part in the courtyard a mausoleum is also built whose central dome is lost but other Architectural features are eminent as projected brackets supporting the stone hang out, decorated arched way facing to the courtyard and having openings in all the four directions. Ablution tank's ruins are there in which moulded bricks were used. Almost white sand stone was used in its construction and after centuries it has lost whiteness. Though it's a part of World Heritage site so restoration work is under progress. Champaner Pavagarh Archaeological Park is a World Heritage site and attracting tourits of all tastes. It's a major attraction among the history buffs wanderers soulseekers art and architecture lovers. Half an hour is enough for glimpse but to enjoy the real Architectural features and beauty it needs one hour. Nearest attraction are Kevada Masjid Jama Masjid etc.

Nagina Masjid: located at the north west corner of the Kewda Masjid. It is a very unique organisation of the structure. Main mosque mehrab facing towards Makka, in the west direction. Main entry of the mosque is from the south where one enter at the large raised oner space and facing towards two pavallion in the north. Both have very intrigued stone curved jalis. One of the structure has a stone dome which fallen down in the past. Mosque is two story structure where staircase has been placed between the thickness of the walls. West side of the mosque is guarded by a hill.

Wonderful place to visit. The architecture at this place is remarkably well ahead of its time. Must visit place if you are history lover. It is sort of in the middle of forest but you won't find it difficult with vehicle(thanks to google maps ;). Try to cover it before 5 PM at snakes regularly pop out from bushes to road during night.

Nagina Masjid which translates to 'Jewel Mosque' is situated north-west to Kevada Mosque. The mosque is planned as a simpler version of Jami Masjid while it is devoid of much carvings or decoration. The mosque complex also houses a beautiful cenotaph containing intricately carved motifs on arches, columns and brackets. The square-plan cenotaph is flanked by arched entries on all four sides while it's central dome is absent.

Nagina Masjid surrounded by the forest. Very nice in looking but connecting road need to improve, otherwise most of the visitors could not enjoy the structure and its significance.

Nagina masjid is situated in an isolated spot, a little off the town of Champaner. Difficult to spot if you miss directions. Nevertheless it's worth a visit to see it's magnificent carvings, & grand structure..If you are lucky, you could possibly climb up the stairs inside the minarets to access the upper story of the masjid. It's surroundings are a joy to watch , absolutely green & quiet, undisturbed nature.

Small but beautiful old mosque in the middle of the jungle. The road to it is not very good but the place is worth visiting once. It feels peaceful and quiet because it's one of the least visited places in Champaner.
