السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته. I have only visited here once, yet. And what do I say, in the busy streets stands an excellent and well made masjid. Ma sha' Allâh. From the inside, it's even more amazing - - outstanding construction. But there's a major problem; apparently there's a GRAVE in the Masjid! إنا لله وإنا إليه راجعون The story: I had planned my visit to Masjid Bandar around 4 pm and alhumdulillâh reached on time as planned. I marked this masjid on my route map as the place where I would offer my `Asr salah. The initial time for `Asr, and the correct one, was around 4:15 pm. But when I entered here, the `Asr prayer was scheduled at 5:30 pm.... I realized this is a Hanafi Masjid. "Fine, I will pray by myself and get going.", I thought. But when I was going to the bathroom I saw a low lying rectangular structure and wondered what it was..... "NO WAY. Is this a QABR!" I asked people around about it but they were also travellers like me and said they don't know but said that it's probably a grave. إنا لله وإنا إليه راجعون. PS: As for the evidence for not praying at graves; 1. - On the authority of Abu Sa’eed al-Khudree -radiAllaah anhu – who said: that the Messenger of Allaah – sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam – said: ‘The whole earth is a place in which to pray except for graveyards and bathing places.’ Narrated by Abu Dawood (v.1 p.184). Shaykh ul-Islaam ibn Taymeeyah said in ‘Iqtida as-Siraat al-Mustaqeem’: ‘Narrated by Ahmad and Abu Dawood, Tirmidhee, Ibn Majah and Bazzar and other than them, with good chains of narrations and whoever speaks against this hadeeth has not gathered all its chains.’ 2. - On the authority of Anas -radiAllaah anhu – that the Prophet – sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam -‘prohibited praying to graves.’ and in another wording: ‘He prohibited praying between graves.’ Narrated by lbn Hibban as in ‘Muwaarid’ (p.105), and al Haythamee said in ‘Mua’jam al-zawaid’ (v.2 p.27): narrated by Bazaar, and its narrators are the narrators of the Saheeh. There are many Ahadeeth, but these should be sufficient for the one who is keen to find the Truth.
