(Only difference is instead of getting a daily wage, you pay to serve.)
Don't expect any normal college hours or any lifestyle. No normal theory-teaching and studying classes either.
However,
If struggles or traumas help you grow as person, then go for it. (you'll either become a diamond under pressure or cease to exist at all)
Also the students are from almost all parts of India and some parts of the rest of the world
which gives a varied creative perspective;
Since No one fits in with each other and everyone keeps developing themselves in an unhealthy way.
And they end up gaining a strange attachment to the place
because of both good and bad fellow classmates and faculty, and gain a traumatic bond with the toxic yet addictive curriculum.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ National Institute of Design (NID) Ahmedabad, established in 1961 was set up as an autonomous all-India body. Thereafter, by the National Institute of Design Act 2014, NID Ahmedabad was declared as an "Institution of National Importance" by the Indian Parliament.
One of the most prestigious design schools in the country, NID Ahmedabad has been listed among the top 25 European and Asian design programmes in the world by Business Week over the years. NID Ahmedabad offers design courses at the undergraduate, postgraduate and PhD levels to aspirants.
NID has three campuses that offer degree courses, namely, NID Bengaluru, NID Ahmedabad and NID Gandhinagar. Centralized placements are conducted for all these three campuses. NID placement drive is usually conducted in the month of November, every year.
Being the main campus of NIDs, NID Ahmedabad campuses conduct many activities around training and placements to help students get acquainted with what to expect in their actual recruitment drive. The design school also offers hostel facilities to students. NID Ahmedabad consistently works to enhance the professional capabilities of its students. DSIR (Department of Scientific & Industrial Research) that falls under the ambit of the Ministry of Science & Technology has recognized NID as a scientific and industrial design research organization in 2015.
