★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Actually this temple is named Sri Rajagopalaswamy Alayam. It is a rare temple. Perhaps it was built by the zamindars of nuzvid. Nice to see statues of their family in the temple compound.
It is one of the few Vaishnava temples that has a Garuda bird on dwaja stambam. It is in a secluded and silent place. I was told this temple has mystical significance. The belief is that a visit to this temple is equivalent to a visit to Sri Rangam temple. In the temple compound there is also a snake's nest that is revered by devotees.
Sankranthi is a big event. Newly weds and those who aspire to get married participate with staunch faith in sankranthi rituals there.
The priest of the temple is a pious person. I visited the temple on eka dasi day. This day which occurs every month is considered sacred by vaishnavites. They observe silence(mouna), do japa and fast. Hence, I found him in mouna and japa.
Temple timings are to be noted particularly for planning a visit. They are not like those of other temples.
Timings: 7.30 am to 11 am & 5.30 pm to 7.30 pm.
