In 1862, the Eastern Bengal Railway constructed a 1,676 mm (5 ft 6 in)-wide broad-gauge railway from Sealdah to Sonarpur Junction via New Garia.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It is a station is southern railway , which was built to access metro easily . Obviously it becomes busiest station at working hour. Very very clean station, with clean bathrooms. We can access metro from kavi Subhas metro beside for dum dum. And , auto for garia station, peerless , Jadavpur ,baghajatin is available. All train stops here after 6am. Ticket counter for train is outside of the rail station and metro token counter is inside. Escalator and stairs are available here. Though sometimes escalator don't work for the lack of maintaineance. Still, it's a best station to connect metro

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ New Garia Railway Station is very important station in the Eastern Railway (Sealdah- Sonarpur) because it's connected the Metro Railway from Kavi Subhas to Dakshinewar and under construction metro line Kavi Subhas to Airport at Kavi Subhas Metro station.
