★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This is the Old hospital of Kalna. It was established in 1825 by Dr. Ambet , Binod bihari Mukherjee and Satishcharan Mullick. During the black fever (কালাজ্বর) in 1882 and plauge pandemic in 1896, this hospital was the main treatment center for all patients of Kalna and surrounding areas. Iswar Chandra Vidyasagar, also visited this place and brought a cholera patient on his way to meet his friend Pandit Taranath Tarkwa bachaspati. Vidyasagar came by walk all the way from Kolkata that time. This place has its own historic importance. Today we can see a statue of Vidyasagar in front of the hospital which adds the history value to this complex. Famous doctors from British India period Dr. Moore Shab, Dr. Anderson was appointed here. I heard that there is one very old wooden staircase which attracts everyone's notice by its own design. This hospital was shut down on 1975, and after that it remained unnoticed and neglected. Today it remains as an abandoned place holding all its glorious history, within its broken bricks and walls. Govt would treat this place as heritage and start some renovation work to gain it's lost glory .
