હનુમાન (સંસ્કૃત: हनुमान्) એ હિંદુ દેવતા અને રામના પરમ ભક્ત અને સાથી છે. તેઓ બ્રહ્મચારી અને ચિરંજીવી તરીકે વર્ણવાયા છે. રામાયણ સહિત અન્ય ગ્રંથો જેવા કે મહાભારત અને વિવિધ પુરાણોમાં તેમનું વર્ણન થયું છે. તેઓ અંજની અને કેસરીના પુત્ર તેમજ વાયુદેવના પુત્ર છે. તેમનો જન્મ ચૈત્રી પૂનમને દિવસે થયો હતો, જેની હનુમાન જયંતી તરીકે ઉજવણી થાય છે.
રામાયણમાં રામે સીતાની શોધનું કપરું કાર્ય હનુમાનને સોંપ્યું હતું તે તેમણે બખૂબી નિભાવ્યું હતું. રામને હનુમાન ઉપર પૂર્ણ વિશ્વાસ હતો, તેથી જ જ્યારે રાવણનાં ભાઈ વિભીષણનો સ્વીકાર કરવો કે ન કરવો તે ગડમથલમાં પડેલા રામે સુગ્રીવનાં અભિપ્રાયને ઉવેખીને પણ હનુમાનજીના મંતવ્યનો સ્વીકાર કરેલો. કારણ કે રામ હનુમાનને માત્ર એક ભકત તરીકે જ નહોતા નિહાળતા તેનામાં રહેલ માણસને પારખવાની અદભુત શકિતને પણ સમજતા હતા. હનુમાને સીતાને અશોક વાટીકામાં આત્મહત્યાનાં માર્ગે જતા અટકાવ્યા હતા. તેઓ માત્ર એક વિદ્વાન જ નહિ, એક વીર સૈનિક પણ હતા. તેમનામાં કોઇપણ કાર્ય બુધ્ધિ પુર્વક હાથ ધરવાની સમજદારી હતી. તેથી તેઓએ એકલે હાથે રાવણની આખી લંકા સળગાવી નાખી હતી. રામના કોઈ પણ મહત્વનાં કાર્યો કે કટોકટીની ક્ષણોમાં હનુમાન હંમેશા સાથે હતા. ઇન્દ્રજીતના બાણથી મરણશૈયા ઉપર પડેલા લક્ષ્મણને ઔષધી લાવીને હનુમાને બચાવેલા. રાવણનો યુધ્ધમાં નાશ થયો તે સમાચાર સીતાને આપવા રામ હનુમાનને મોકલે છે.

Hanuman (Sanskrit: हनुमान) is a great devotee and ally of the Hindu deity and Rama. They are described as celibate and immortal. He is described in other scriptures including Ramayana like Mahabharata and various Puranas. He is the son of Anjani and Kesari as well as the son of Vayudev. He was born on the day of Chaitri Poonam, which is celebrated as Hanuman Jayanti.
In the Ramayana, Rama entrusted Hanuman with the arduous task of finding Sita, which he did well. Rama had complete faith in Hanuman, which is why when Rama's brother Vibhishan was in a dilemma whether to accept it or not, Rama accepted Hanumanji's opinion despite Sugriva's opinion. Because Rama not only saw Hanuman as a devotee but also understood his wonderful power to discern the man in him. Hanuman stopped Sita from going to Ashoka Vatika on the path of suicide. He was not only a scholar but also a heroic soldier. He had the wisdom to carry out any task intelligently. So they burned the whole Lanka of Ravana with one hand. Hanuman was always with Rama in any important deeds or moments of crisis. He saved Hanuman by bringing medicine to Lakshmana who was lying on his death bed with Indrajith's arrow. Rama sends Hanuman to give Sita the news that Ravana was destroyed in battle.
