Named after Pandit Raghunath Murmu, the inventor of the Alchiki Script and a part of the subaltern class of society, Pandit Raghunath Murmu Smriti Mahavidyalaya, commonly known as PRMS Mahavidyalaya, is geographically located in an utterly rural topography and a richly embroidered historiography. Since the year of its establishment, i.e. 1986, as a co-educational institution under the Govt. of West Bengal, the college is dedicated to provide elemental effort to rise up the meaning of its foundation. This college is in Sarenga block of Bankura district in West Bengal. The coordinate location of the college is 22ﹾ52‘42.83‘‘N and 87ﹾ00‘09.70‘‘E. This region is considered as the backward most and tribe rich region of West Bengal which is popularly known as ‘Jungle Mahal’. The institute act as a cartelistic agent of social change since long past through its community-campus linkage. The college is affiliated to the University of Burdwan and is incepted by Bankura University from the session 2017-18 and is registered with UGC under section 2F and 12D of the UGC Act. The college is re-accredited B+ in the Second Cycle of NAAC. The teaching-learning and all round development of the student is successfully going on in the 10.88 acres green campus with 79,800 square feet build up area, studded with numerous support service and global technologies. P.R.M.S. Mahavidyalaya is evolved with the contemporary development and desires to set a directional change in higher education through introducing modern subjects like Geoinformatics, Bioinformatics, Rural development and planning, Forestry, Horticulture and Defense studies. On the other hand the institute is dedicated to spread the light of higher education horizontally to the marginal families of ‘Jungle Mahal’. A meticulous and ardent effort is made by the faculties to acccelarate the needs of education which is quite in tune with the spirit and vision of this institution – Resilience, Relevance and Reform.

One of the best colleges in Bankura district right after the BCC, in terms of educational practices and history. The infrastructure is of superb quality and importance that can beat any urban colleges across the district and beyond , keeping in mind both the natural beautification and the use of technologies. PRMS College always get a five star. The most beautiful thing probably would be the refreshing green lush of the teak jungle that invites you and the pebbled walkway to the college gate. It's worth the whole effort you get in here. Departments are equipped with modern facilities, the faculties and the staffs are all coordinating.

This is a undergraduate college at sarenga block. The college is surrounded by Sal tree(Shorea robusta) The college campus is clean and large enough. Beautiful natural place. Library is too large and has the capability of storing thousands off books. But science subjects are not available (except computer science) due to lack of teachers. Full time teachers are not sufficient. Otherwise the infrastructure is very good.
