One of the famous places on the mumbai-goa highway. Such a nice temple to see. About Sansthan Shri Bhargavram Parshuram: The temple has a magnificent architectural beauty, which includes both Hindu and Muslim architectural styles. The steps from the ghat lead to the temple premises. The main temple is surrounded by stone walls. The main sanctum sanctorum has three elaborate idols, Kaal, Kama and Parashuram. These three idols were brought here by Brahmendra Swami 300 years ago. Shri Parashuram’s bed is placed inside the temple and his traditional ‘paduka’ is placed on his bed. Behind the Parashuram temple is the temple of Goddess Renuka. Legend has it that after Parashuram shot five arrows on the ground, Bandaganga lake was formed at this place. History Of Sansthan Shri Bhargavram : At a distance of 7 km from Chiplun city, Parashuram Temple is an ancient Hindu temple. It is located in Parashuram village near Chiplun town in Ratnagiri district of Maharashtra. Also known as Sri Kshetra Parashuram, it is one of the popular pilgrimage places in the Konkan region. Parshuram Temple is dedicated to he sixth incarnation of Lord Vishnu – Lord Parshurama. Since Parshurama created the Konkan land. he is considered to be the presiding deity of the Konkan region. The temple was built by the Portuguese. And funds were provided by Janjirekar and Siddi for its construction. The temple was rebuilt by Swami Paramahansa Brahmendra. He was the guru of Siddi Yakut Khan of Janjira, Kanhoji Angre of Colaba, Peshwa of Pune, Chhatrapati Sahu Maharaj, Tararani of Kolhapur. According to mythology, Parasurama is the immortal incarnation of Lord Vishnu. Parashurama had fought twenty-one battles to free himself from the cruel Kshatriya kings who renounced the principles of Dharma. The Kshatriya king Janak or Ikshvaku, who ruled by principles, suffered no loss. Later, Parashurama donated the entire earth to Maharshi Kashyap, so he could not stay on that land. So, Parshuram shot an arrow into the Arabian Sea to push it back and regain the Konkan land. Parashurama chose the Mahendragiri peak as his permanent abode. This is the place where the temple is. It is believed that at sunrise Lord Parasurama leaves for penance in the Himalayas and returns to the temple at sunset. A big celebration takes place on the day of Parshurama Jayanti (Akshayy Trutiya). Thousands of devotees gather on this occasion.

There are things know and things unknown and in between are the doors..... Exploring Chiplun........ According to the Indian mythology, of the seven Chiranjeevs (those who can never die), Parshuram is Lord Vishnu’s sixth avatar (incarnation) and it is so believed that he is residing on the Konkan coast as a protector of the West. Shri Parshuram, who donated the earth to Kashyap Rishi and pushed back the entire ocean for himself is the creator of the great land of Konkan. His ancient temple is situated 12 kilometres away from Chiplun..... Parshuram is the son of Jamdagni Rishi and Mother Renuka. Akshaya Tritiya is known to be his day of birth. This Bhargavrama was known to destroy the demons with the ‘Parshu’ weapon and thus he came to be known as ‘Parshuram’. The speciality of the temple is the stairs which were built by Chandrarao More from Javali nearly 300 years ago..... The temple was rebuilt by Swami Paramhansa Brahmendra. He was the Guru of Siddi Yakut khan of Janjira, Kanhoji Angre of Kolaba, Peshwa of Pune, Chhatrapati Sahu Maharaj, Tararani of Kolhapur..... The temple has a splendid architectural beauty, which incorporates both the Hindu and Muslim styles of architecture. The steps from the Ghat lead to the temple premises. The main temple is surrounded by stone walls. The main sanctum has three elaborate idols namely Kal, Kam, and Parshuram. These three idols were brought here 300 years ago by Brahmendra Swami. Shri Parshuram's bed has been kept inside the temple and his traditional footwear 'Paduka' is known to be kept on his bed. There is also a temple of Goddess Renuka behind the Parashuram Temple. The legend goes that the Bandganga lake at this site was created after Parashuram shot five arrows into the land....
