Dinner at a fine dine with your loved ones is all you need to make your evening a pleasant one. We had one such pleasant evening at Phagun and we were delighted by the North Indian Food we had over there. Our meal included: Drinks? 1) Rose Petal Thandai ? Well we were fooled by the chocolate stick lookalike straw at the start but then we enjoyed the drink. A typical rose thanks and a perfect drink one can have along with their dinner. 2) Watermelon Twist ? A fizzy form of the watermelon juice and gets you rejuvenated from the scorching summer heat. 3) Kala Khatta Slush ? We had the first sip and we had this feeling that we were on Juhu beach sipping Kala Khatta Gola. Starters? 1) Kurmuri Methi Palak Tikki: These were small deep fried tikkis that had Methi and Palak in it. They were served with a slight spicy Masala Hummus and the combination of the two made the starter a luscious one. 2) Peshawari Paneer Tikka: The Paneer was near perfectly cooked and was a bit hard. Served with the Paneer were veggies cooked in a slight spicy sauce. Overall an okay dish. 3) Soya Mutter ki Galauti: This starter had patties made of paneer, soya and green peas. We found it very dry and we did not like this starter. 4) Murg ke sholey : Chicken chunks marinated in Indian spices and then served after grilling it on high temperature. Overall the chicken had an amazing burnt and spicy flavor. 4) Chicken Chilly Flakes: Chicken pieces marinated in yoghurt and various spices and then cooked on a tandoor. The speciality of this place is that they serve some amazingly well cooked meat dishes. The chicken was really soft and juicy with that spicy zing in it. Main Course ? 1) Bhindi Kali Mirch: The lady fingers were a little bit over fried but then it's taste was just perfect. The spiciness due to black pepper was the highlight of this dish. 2) Hyderabadi Mushroom Corn Kut: This was a sublime dish and the sweetness of corn went well with the peculiar flavour of mushroom. We are mushroom lovers and we found the sabzi divine. 3) Lagan ka Paneer: The gravy had a cashew base and the tinge of saffron gave that amazing flavour to the dish. The Paneer in the sabzi was near perfectly cooked and it went well along with the gravy and the veggies. 4) Lemon Grass Korma: This was a South Indian Dish and had the coconuty flavour in it along with the strong essence of lemon grass. The veggies were cooked nicely. Overall a very nice dish. 5) Bhunna Gosht: This dish was surely the star of that evening for us. Mutton pieces marinated in hot spices and then fried at high temperature along with different spices and its own juices adding to the juicy and spicy flavor. The curry along with the meat was of the right viscosity and flavor as well. 6) Purane Chowk Ki Nalli Nihari: Living in a metro have you forgotten those typical lucknowi flavors? Well these fried shanks of lamb in various authentic lucknowi spices will surely make you nostalgic. The lamb was just perfectly cooked and the spices would just fill your mouth with that typical yet authentic flavor. 7) Rotis and Naans: Perfectly cooked and not chewy at all. 8)Ruhani Biryani: This Biryani had a very mild flavour unlike the spicy and tangy flavour of biryani. We personally didn't like this mild flavour. 9) Amritsari murg biryani: The dish was very well presented. When the parda or the roti on top was removed the peculiar aroma that you are looking for in a biryani was really luscious. Yet the biryani was missing that spicy flavor and was a bit bland. The chicken inside it was just perfect covering up the missing spiciness by its own spicy zing. Desserts? Kesar Phirni: Perfect in taste and the saffron and pistachios on the top made this dessert extremely luscious. Mouth Fresheners: Chocolate Paan: The traditional Indian Paan was filled with chocolate and it had amazing mouth freshening elements. Perfect way to end a perfect evening.

I’ve had food around India so I come with some experience. Phagun serves food in such small portions. Almost like they think you are a 5 year old kid. The food is flat, bland, tasteless and textureless at times. No idea who rates them high. Absolutely weak.

The food is too tasty. Do try the Chicken Tikka Chilli Flakes, Nalli Nihari, Soya Galouti Kebab and Dal E Phagun. Don't forget to try the Kalakhatta Martini. The ambiance is classy and royal and yes the food is Pan Indian but the plating and presentation is modern. Service is quick and courteous.

Phagun, a newly opened restaurant in Juhu serves some amazing Pan Asian Cuisine. The ambiance and service were top notch. Prices though a little steep, seemed deservedly so. We loved the variety in their menu, the presentation and the food which was quite delicious. The ambiance is quite brilliant Would highly recommend this place.
