I got in touch with Prateek Mathur of 'PM Legal associates' for the preparation of sale deed,agreement to sale and registration/stamp duty.
During the entire process, not even a single time I received a call from him regarding any kind of updates. I followed up with him everytime for everything.
For registration, he had some local ground staff, which he claimed to be a part of his company but later I got to know that he had hired third party to do the job.
Also, after the sale deed registration got done, I waited and followed-up for around 2 month for documents handover to me, but there was no response from him. He stopped taking calls and his only reply used to be "documents are with me and I will hand it over to you".
On December 01, 2019, I messaged Prateek again to check, when is he going to handover my official docs. His reply was, "I am driving. I will deliver it tomorrow. Just not happened to come that way". When I checked again on 02 December evening (as he was suppose to deliver on 2nd), (after multiple calls) some lady answers the call, identifying herself as her wife and her reply to my question was, "he is hospitalized from past 3days".
There was absolute silence after I told her, "please don't lie, I received a message from him yesterday that he is driving. I am sure that one of you are lying and I don't understand why."
After multiple follow-ups, I thought of calling his partner Ganesh Deshmukh, who assured me that the documents will be handed over to me asap. When I checked with Ganesh again the very next day, he replied, "you are not my client, pls talk to Prateek Directly".
I don't understand how does it make a difference. As a partner in the firm, your responsibility was to address the concerns and not look for clients individually.
Somehow I was able to get the details of local brokers hired by Prateek Mathur and after I informed them that it's been around 40-45 days that I have not received my documents, he checked with his other colleagues and confirmed that documents are lying with them and not Prateek Mathur.
Finally, I was handed over the documents by the OM Associates, Dombivali (local broker or team who looked after the registration).
I made a mistake by making payment in full before the documents were handed over to me. Also, he asked me a few more charges (more than actuals) for scanning and registration of sale deed.
As someone into service industry, I expected him and his team to be more professional.
