★ ★ ★ ★ ★ There are many fruit handcarts (haatgaadi) but there are only three fruit stores in camp number four. Prakash Fruit Center is one of them. It is located in the prime spot of Netaji Chowk. There are many seasonal fruits on stair-step display stand. Depending on the demand some exotic fruits like red bananas, kiwi, and dragon fruit are also available. Fruits such as regular bananas, Yelakki bananas (small bananas), Oranges (Santri), Sweet lime (Mosambi), and Apples, are available throughout the year. Now in summer, the shop has Watermelon (Tarbuj), Musk melon (kharbuj), Sun melon (Surya Kharbuj), Black grapes, Regular seedless grapes, Alphonso (Hapus), and other varieties of mangoes. Compared to the fruit handcarts, the fruits in the shop are costlier by ten or fifteen rupees. But the service is quick. It is not crowded most of the time. Before the Covid pandemic, it was exclusively a fruit shop. Now, apart from the fruits they also sell dry fruits and ready-to-eat Indian snacks. The shop is comparatively clean but there is one guy from the shop who was busy cleaning his nose. So I avoid buying fruits from him. Instead, I ask the other employee for the fruits. Carry a thick cotton bag, as the weight of the fruit, you buy is often more than three kilograms.
