★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A beautiful place for a riverside morning or an evening visit or walk.
It is a small well maintained promenade along the Hooghly River or the Bhāgirathi-Hooghly, called the 'Ganga' or the 'Kati-Ganga' in mythological texts, is the eastern distributary of the Ganges River.
It is a ghat built in 1841 during the British Raj, along the Kolkata bank of the Hooghly River. Located between the Water Gate and the St George's Gate of the Fort William, the monument to Princep is rich in Greek and Gothic inlays. It was restored by the state's public works department in November 2001 and has since been well-maintained. In its initial years, all royal British entourages used the Prinsep Ghat jetty for embarkation and disembarkation.
Prinsep Ghat is one of the oldest recreational spots of Kolkata. People visit it in the evenings on weekends to go boating on the river, stroll along the bank and purchase food from stalls there. A 2-kilometre stretch of the beautified riverfront from Princep Ghat to Babughat (Baje Kadamtala Ghat) was inaugurated on 24 May 2012. It has illuminated and landscaped gardens and pathways, fountains and renovated ghats.
Princep Ghat also has a railway station named after it. The station is part of the Kolkata Circular Railway which is maintained by Eastern Railway.
There is a jetty nearby called the Man-O-War jetty that belongs to the Kolkata Port Trust and commemorates the role played by the port in the Second World War. The jetty is mainly used by the Indian Navy.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Located on the banks of the River Hooghly, Prinsep Ghat is a major attraction of the city of Kolkata. It was built by the British rulers and is intricately designed in Greek and Gothic inlays.
It is ideal for morning or evening walks along the beautified riverfront which stretch for around 2kms by the majestic river.
Also, you can take a boat ride and enjoy the serenity while relishing the beauty of the Ganges below the Second Hooghly bridge.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Just sheer nature with man made marvel. It is a place where an evening is well spent. Although bit crowded but a nice walk along the ghat with Chaat n tea sellers. Again if you're a travelling to Kolkata visit the place.

Lots of food shops, mainly snacks, tea icecream velpuri chat foochka chinese menu etc
Many riverside under the tree sitting arrangements
Photoshoot - monument below second hooghly bridge is a good site including all the riveside walkway..

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Oldest recreational spots of kolkata , built in 1841 during British time along the kolkata bank of Hooghly river , must visit here in evening hours to enjoy boating and view of Vidyasagar Setu and Hooghly river , 2 km stretch of the riverfront from Princep ghar to babu ghat with beautiful garden , pathway , fountains . Most beautiful place in kolkata “ if u want to have memorable walk with partner “ , most beautiful and well maintained ghat in kolakata . Must visit place when u travel “ city of joy “ .
