I came across Qlicket when interacting extensively with the IT Team as well as Tata Teleservices Limited (Wi Fi Partner) at Terminal 3, IGIA... Through my interactions, I was pretty impressed with how the founders came from very different backgrounds but worked seamlessly together towards the same vision - Vivek (from the US) with a hardcore business background and Deependra (a Delhi boy) who has technology running through his blood... I found their vision and their approach towards monetizing the Wi Fi infrastructure by playing short 30 second clips, and also a simplified log in process! To further their claim, they brought a Google campaign onto the Wi Fi, with a monetization model.. Subsequently, there was no looking back as they brought campaigns from leading brands, focused primarily on the passenger profile of T3. Eventually, they also ended up recruiting one of the key IT Business Service guys into their team!

For the general populace, a company is what the company's representative is. I know Qlicket through Shaivya. I find it absolutely enthralling how she handles all the business relationships from Mumbai to New Delhi, and that too with an unequaled dexterity. Qlicket has done a commendable job in educating the masses about Wi-Fi and taking it to several venues. Hope to see the Qlicket wings everywhere. Keep it up.

I live in the USA but I try to keep up with innovative companies in India and Sri Lanka where my roots are. I know about the company Qlicket because the founder is from my hometown near Pittsburgh PA. I understand that Qlicket is trying to give access to free internet in high traffic establishments settings by using an innovative ad driven technology. I have not been to India/Sri Lanka since 2003 so I have very little knowledge of what is actually changed there on the ground. My knowledge of the technological change in India has been through others experiences, books and articles. I understand there are approximately 243 million people in India who use the internet, and this number is projected to hit 343 million by 2017. What does all this mean in the grand scheme of life for the Indian people? It is about access, affordability, productive use, education, writing, and ultimately individuality, The middle class of India is currently estimated to be at 300 million which means as this number grows to a projected 600 million by 2030 they are all going to want access to the internet twenty four hours a day seven days a week 365 days a year. Qlicket can play a major role in the middle class of India having access to the internet and they will choose to use the internet for any reason the choose. But the most important number is that 48% of India lives in poverty, which is approximately 480 million people. I would think that internet access is not on the mind of any of these 480 million people, but certainly food, water, shelter, clothes, and taking care of there children day to day is. But as India find ways to create 120 million non farming jobs a year to keep up with population growth and empower those in poverty access to internet will play a crucial role. I see internet access in villages, and remote areas of India to be key factors in that empowering movement. And certainly computer companies need to get a working affordable product into the hands of those in poverty to give them a chance to go online. I have given a lot of population numbers and public information on India in my reviews of Qlicket because I think it is important to understand the people of India to understand the new technology companies of Inida. Qlicket is one of several startups/tech companies trying to transform some essential resources for India. In a day and age where corporations try to make a rupee/penny/a dollar off every human in the world for anything that can be consumed, it is great to know that Qlicket is striving to develop a business model where the end user human gets something they want just for there time. And the resource they are getting if used productively can transform there life and allow them access to endless knowledge/curiosity/writing/images/sound/earning potential. India is still going through a transformation on so many levels socially, economically, technologically, politically, and every week, month, and year things change rapidly there. And certainly the business climate of India is all about relationships, who you know, why you know them, and what is in it for them if they give you access to making money. Culture always trumps technology, process, and sometimes the greatest inventions/innovations in the world of human kind . I believe that Qlicket can be apart of that empowering movement to people that have a computer and simply need internet access for no cost at a public wi fi spot where Qlicket services are provide. I've known Vivek, the founder of Qlicket, for a while now and am absolutely impressed by what he's been able to accomplish with Qlicket. We initially met at a YCombinator event in Silicon Valley and discussed how to identify successful startup concepts. I mentioned that India had lots of opportunities that were no longer present in the U.S., and Vivek ran with that concept, launching Qlicket and its service shortly thereafter. I've seen him overcome numerous obstacles early in the process and build out a great team and service, but what's really impressed me is his dual commitment, to both enabling Internet access for the 1B+ people in India, rich and poor alike, but also to delivering a service that's truly valuable to his customers. He truly does an excellent job addressing the needs of all stakeholders, both the customers and end-users, and I believe this attention to detail is what will drive Qlicket to be a tremendous success in India.

Qlicket is simply awesome. Probably the only team making public WiFi work in India. The team is super enthusiastic about providing public WiFi and they make sure WiFi works. They not only help the venue but hand hold the end user too! That's a rarity! Keep up the great job guys. You rock!

Qlicket is improving people's lives, and Vivek Kumar is just the man to lead the charge. Wi-Fi is an extremely valuable asset that, unfortunately, not everyone is privileged enough to gain access to. What Vivek is doing by bringing sponsored Wi-Fi to India is incredible and should be commemorated for years to come. Vivek is a creative, intelligent, and compassionate individual, and I am confident in his ability to (and extremely excited to see him) continue growing Qlicket to its potential! Great company, great leader!
