The two main pillars of any manufacturing-driven economy are Quality and Productivity. Many countries have used this in the past (e.g. Japan) and even today are using this to attract world Investors and Manufacturers (e.g. Bangladesh and Vietnam). India needs to build the same pillars for manufacturing excellence. The key for India is to create awareness among the manufacturers across the chain i.e. raw material, intermediate and finished products manufacturers. Hon’ble Prime Minister has also emphasized that ‘Made in India’ products should not only meet global demand but also get greater global acceptance by building credibility. β β β β β GSI has acquired fake ISO 9001:2015 certificates on 12 August, 2016. Joint Director, NABCB has informed on 30th June, 2017, to DG, GSI about invalidity of these certificates based on information from accreditation body; JAS-ANZ on 09 June, 2017. GSI should not be allowed to propagate about achievement of quality level to the standard of ISO through these fake ISO certificates.

Quality Council of India (QCI) is a non-profit autonomous society registered under Societies
Registration Act to establish an accreditation structure in the country and to spread quality
movement in the country by undertaking a National Quality Campaign. The QCI is engaged
in coal quality testing, assessment under Swachh Bharat Mission, Grievance analysis study
and subsequent reform recommendations for the top 40 grievance receiving Ministries and
Departments. The Council is also creating a dashboard to monitor quality of project
implementation in CPSEs.
