He is also currently a General Secretary of the Indian National Congress party's All India Congress Committee.[2] Previously, he had served as the 14th Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, a central Indian state, for two terms from 1993 to 2003. Prior to that he was a minister in Chief Minister Arjun Singh's cabinet between 1980–84. In 2019 Lok Sabha elections he was defeated by Pragya Singh Thakur for Bhopal Lok Sabha seat.[3]

This city is situated on Agra Bombay Highway road 250 kms from Indore and 30 kms from District Guna two sons of last King Late Shri Balbhadra Singh ji, Shri Digvijay Singh ji and shri Laxman Singh ji are still living in Fort with their families son of Shri Digvijay Singh ji Mr. Jaivardhan Singh ji is Cabinet Minister in Madhya Pradesh Government and he is a very gentle person like his mother. Fort is not very much maintained from outside but the interior of the Fort is well maintained.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The fort is in two part. Outer fortification in which habitation is there and Inner is Private palace. Raghogarh State was established in 1673 by Lal Singh Khichi, a Rajput of the Chauhan Khichi clan, a branch of the clan to which Prithviraj Chauhan the founder of Delhi belonged. The state took its name from the fort of Raghogarh, founded in 1673 by Raja Lal Singh himself in 1677. After all, this kingdom was won by the Marathas under the leadership of Mahadaji Shinde around 1780.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This is located on top of the hill and you can only reach there by a narrow road. You will definitely love the location and quaint building structure. This is not the place with your family and you cannot find any food items here. But there is garden near by. You are not allowed to roam around this place as it is occupied by Madhya Pradesh Police Department. You can visit the Lord Ganesha temple inside.
