★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It is an old palace now in dilapidated condition.The king of Ranpur is staying there.Once upon a time it was an important gadajat kingdom.Greatest historical event of Bijilgate an top British official death in freedom coup happened here.How ever Ranpur is more important for Lord Goddess Meninaga.Here there is a Jagannath temple.It can be approached either from NH5 from Jankia khurda district or from Nayagarh side.It is approachable by road.Nearest air port Bhubaneswar Biju Patnaik airport.Nearest tourist spots within 100 km is Balugaon Bird sanctuary Neval base Kalijai & Bhagabati and Narayani.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Beautiful place with lot of old world charm where the time has just slowed down. The Goddess Maninaga temple, Jagannath temple, Kings palace though in a depleted condition where the King still staying with his family. A road is under construction to the hill top of the deity. The road is very good connecting to NH 16 to Chandpur side but just beware of locally man made humps.....

princely state and considered to be the oldest dynasty, among all the 26 ex-feudal states of Odisha, which merged with Odisha state in the year 1948. Ranpur name is derived from a Demon's name, who was the ruler here and his Kingdom was known as Ranasurapura. It's also known as Raj-ranpur, Runpurgada or simply Runpur. The original Kingdom stretched from Khurda to Kontilo. Ranpur, name is mentioned in ancient texts like Kapila Samhita, Shrimad Bhagwat etc. The present king of Rangpur is Raja Shri Dilip Chandra Singh Devo Bajradhar Narendra Mohapatra, the 182nd Raja Saheb of Ranpur since 1948. Today the palace exist, but is almost in ruins state. The king, do visit there frequently.
