The Ratnagiri Buddhist Excavations is another one of the best historical places in India which are great for tourist attraction. Also, you can explore the rich history of Buddha. Ratnagiri literally means and translates into mount of pearls. Years back, it used to be a very famous Buddhist monastery that is why it came to be called so. This fabulous historical place is located in Jajpur district and 100 kilometers away from the city of Bhubaneswar in the state of Odisha. This place basically remains of primordial Buddhists which are located on the mount in the center of 2 rivers Birupa and Brahmin. You might seek to see the remains of super Buddhist institution. You may wonder to see the remains of a magnificent Buddhist establishment consisting of a monastic complex, stupa, votive stupas, shrines, architectural wreckage, myriad of sculptures, and other antiquities excavated here that have come to light now. Some have compared this site to the well-acknowledged Buddhist site of Nalanda in Bihar. The unique design of the Ratnagiri Buddhist Excavations is magnificent that no one can resist visiting this place. This place is a huge favorite and a must visit one for tourist or for pilgrims.

This is very beautiful & peaceful place. Not everyone will like it. Best time to visit early morning around 10 am ? or so,it's less crowded. I felt a very different energy here. Years & years of meditation made a big impact on this place. You need to feel it. I went there in late October 2021. You would enjoy this place if it's bit sunny. They have QR scanner for entry tickets so no need to carry cash. The ticket money directly goes to The Archaeological Survey of India. Take care

Nice place. The entry fee is 20. Very well maintained lawns. Ruins of ancient Buddhist monasteries. There is a temple that is reconstructed using the stones from the old temple.

If you're interested in Buddhist locations, this place is a must must must! Exotic excavations of many Buddhist stuff here. ASI needs to maintain it properly as many things are just laying like that. It needs to be protected. It's our treasure. Beautiful lawns with hilly terrain. Winter is the right time to visit. The entrance road is very clumsy and often gets packed with traffic.
