Lively work environment, modest compensation, a lot of responsibility and freedom and most importantly, the ability to make a difference to a million lives every year. Why work here ?The greatest benefit, according to our staff, is the sense of satisfaction and purpose they experience in their jobs. Perfect for a professional who wants to use his/her education, skills and experience to create lasting change in the lives of children.

My first β€˜HOME’ visit, was an entirely different kind of feeling. There was a program on the account of Independence Day. Each and every performance by them was uniquely beautiful. I was in awe of how talented the children were. Most of the performances amused and gave me goosebumps. They had a sparkling shine in their eyes, and seemed to enjoy the little things. Their laughs resonated with pure joy, full of excitement, to celebrate this Independence Day. A drawing competition was held, after the performances were over, to engage them in a fun group activity. It felt great that they were so keen on drawing their hearts out, experimenting with various colours, and try their hands on different forms. Since the commencement of the program, I was smiling, throughout, unlike being my usual self, as this was totally different; I could not help but smile. Seeing them smiling, overjoyed, and enjoying, made me profoundly emotional, as well. This also made me realize that underneath all those happy visages, lie so much suffering, buried, with a tinge of sadness, prevailing still. There was a paradox to the whole thing. It’s unthinkable and hard to imagine oneself in their shoes. One cannot possibly fathom their feelings, or what they had gone through. Notwithstanding, all the hardships they faced, they stand strong, and get stronger with every passing day. While handing out the drawing materials to them, their eyes sparked with excitement to get those and start drawing. I was moved with compassion for those little souls. Interacting with them was one of the best things. I loved how they, themselves wanted to talk and one of them even befriended me. She was such a sweet girl with a beautiful smile. All of them were a bundle of pure, sweet, curious, polite, beautiful and amazing kids, with so much more to do, with such potential, will, and aim to achieve greater things in life. They had a different aura about them and that was contagious enough to wrap me up in that bliss. Yes, β€˜bliss’ would be quite an appropriate word to term the feeling; sheer bliss. I have had moments when I was emotional, moments when I could not stop smiling; a plethora of emotions, a concoction, if you may. It was exhilarating and quite an overwhelming experience; a memorable and exceptional one. Glad to be a part of it and experience something bigger and greater than the mundane things in everyday life. We often tend to overlook or devaluate the simple and little things in life, not understanding their worth, but this made me realize how little things should be valued and appreciated, because not everyone is fortunate to have those. Watching them smile and enjoy was one of the most remarkable and precious things for me; something that I would treasure for the rest of my life. Thankyou Rescue and Relief Foundation for providing me with this opportunity and making my Independence Day memorable.
