★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Made a grave mistake buying a canvas board made by ROY'S FINE ART, which was kind of pushed by my local retailer in Kolkata. After I have started painting, I realised the issue. Its not the first time I have purchased Canvas cloth or board made by other brands like ARFINA, DAYAL, CAMEL to name a few, which were of superior quality compared to this sub standard product. Nevertheless, I have come already to the conclusion, that the retailer was receiving some sort of commission for pushing this forward, even there was other brands of same dimensions available with him.
Coming to the issue, the canvas cloth comes coated with some sort of coat (which is not present on other brands). This creates a hurdle to draw a basic sketch/ outline on the cloth, let alone oil colours to be painted on it. And after painting has started, its rather impossible to cover a single light pencil stroke with colours. So one has to go for multiple coats.
