★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Excellent Food BUT Sky High Prices. I've been a long old customer here since my college days, They have maintained the same taste from last 15 years. BUT UNFORTUNATELY have not upgraded their restaurant infrastructure/ambience. The Prices are a bit high but still worth it.
I'm giving only 3 stars because they have failed to upgrade their restaurant and maintain basic hygiene standards given the times we live in which is very important. The restaurant in general is still very shabby, wash basins are dirty & bathrooms are just unusable. Hope they make some improvement in health & cleanliness area.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This place has the best mutton biryani available in Odisha. I have eaten a lot of biriyani in Odisha, but Royal hotel has by far the best mutton biryani. Mutton Kassa is also mind blowing. Chicken biryani is good but I have had better. You can try mughlai paratha, chilli chicken and chicken tikka masala as well.

I am like many odias who take their food pretty seriously. I also am working in Bangalore and drop in occassionally. So I had a Biryani craving the other night and took opinions on what is a good place in Bhubaneswar. Zomato swiggy ratings you can't completely trust these days. So I asked folks. Recommendations came in for Royal hotel and so I ordered.
What turned up was a oily flavourless mess. Can't really call it a biryani. This is next level horrible. Usually, a typical biryani rice gets dum i.e. steam and it turns up moist and smells of the garam masalas that go along with biryani. As you can see my photos, my fingers are caked with oil. The chicken pieces were very dry and chewy. The biryani lacked any semblance of flavour. Even salt was under.
Terrible experience. This royal is just for namesakes.

Quality and Quantity of food is great. Taste's good. Staff service is also good. Good to go out with friends or as an individual. Must go during evening time. Affordable price for two or more than two person.
The premises need to be cleaned and maintained properly. It seems very untidy.
