Royal Mosque which is situated in the midst of Rajahmundry was built in 1305A.D by Sumera Sahib son of Mohammad Bin Tughlak and is one of the oldest monument worth seeing. It has completed 700 years and it stood as a centre for religious harmony and brotherhood.

The Royal Mosque which is situated in the midst of Rajahmundry was built in 1305 A.D by Sumera Sahib son of Mohammad Bin Tughlak and is one of the oldest monument worth seeing. It has completed 700 years of existence and is known as a centre for religious harmony and brotherhood. Royal Mosque is the first mosque in Andhradesa, at present it is also called as a Pedda Masjid. The Architectural feature of the mosque entrance is eastern Chalukyas in east facing. There is an inscription in Persian character over the main entrance. On the order of Ghiyasuddin Thughlaq, Mohammad Bin Thughlak conquered Kakatiya empire in 1323 and occupied the post in Rajahmundry. In the invasion of south India victory, Junnakhan (Mohd Bin Thughlak) called as Ulughkhan. It is constructed with 32 Chalukyan architecture pillars. Present Royal mosque is maintained by Royal Mosque Trust Board.
