He is a brilliant Guru of Indian Classical Music and an extraordinary human being. He teaches with a lot of passion and patiently caters to every student individually. I have been learning from him for the past 20 years and have followed in his footsteps in pursuing Indian Classical Music as my career.

There are many respected gurus in Kolkata…But for me it could be no one better than Pandit Santanu Bandopadhyay….He is the 6th generation direct descendent of the only gharana in the history of Bengal, Bishnupur Gharana. He holds the ballot in his hand after some legendary musicians like Pandit Satyakinkar Bandopadhyay, Pandit Gyan Prakash Goswami, Pandit Girija Shankar Chakraborty, Pandit Surendranath Bandopadhyay, Pandit Gobeshwar Bandopadhyay, Pandit Amiya Ranjan Bandopadhyay and many more. He sings with an enchanting voice poured in a sweet flavour of Dhrupadi style. His uses of Meer and super fast Taans put the audience in a different universe where there is music and music only. As a guru, he is one of the greatest of all times according to my research. His institution Parampara Bishnupur is about to produce some extremely well trained musicians in near future. Above all, he has a solution to any questions related to music. I came to learn from him on 1st September, 2015, at that time, my singing was being sung to learn in an unscientific way. Then, for the last four years, Guru Santanu Bandyopadhyay made me very useful to sing and sing. According to my surroundings As a guru, he is currently the greatest guru. His organization "Parampara Bishnupur" has been created from the eighth generation of Bishnupur disciples and they believe that they will increase the standard of Indian classical vocals in the future. He has learnt classical vocals under the tutelage of Sangeetacharya Amiyaranjan Bandyopadhyay who coincidentally has been his father too. Genre-Khayal & Vocal Science. Vocal Science is a new field based on a mixture of Music , physiology , physics and psychology . Training in Vocal Science helps a singer utilize vocal muscles properly . Without sustained exercise of vocal muscle through Vocal Science , these muscles will weaken with age and result in a poorer quality of music .

Pandit Santanu Bandyopadhyay is perhaps the only vocal music guru in Kolkata [maybe in the whole India as well] who has emphasized upon developing the voice in a scientific way that would ensure the most effective improvement of the voice in a very short span of time. He has made his disciples realize that just like any other musical instruments, the vocal cord is also a musical instrument through which, we produce vocal music. Hence, just like the instrumentalists need to maintain and tune their instruments, vocalists also need to maintain and develop the vocal cord through scientific techniques which will add to the flexibility and steadiness of the vocal muscles , enabling the vocalist to utilize the same according to the need. This has indeed helped his disciples and the aspiring vocalists tremendously.
