★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A very ancient shiva temple which was recently discovered. The beautiful remains which were unearthed till now are just a tip of the iceberg. Government must take over the entire area and excavation should start immediately to reveal the entire heritage temple structure! Its a shame that a lot of illegal structures have come up on this heritage site. Govt. should take steps to raze ALL the illegal buildings at this place and RESTORE the ORIGINAL MAHADEV TEMPLE.

The history of this temple is, Pune got its name after this temple.
There is some more idols and parts of temple at near by darga(shekh salla dargah). Which now in dispute. More Shiva’s(Punyeshwar) idols have been found at that dargah.
