★ ★ ★ ★ ★ गुरु हरगोविन्द सिंह के पांचवें पुत्र, गुरु तेग बहादुर का जन्म अमृतसर (पंजाब) में हुआ था. सिखों के आठवें गुरु ‘हरिकृष्ण राय’ जी की अकाल मृत्यु हो जाने के कारण जनमत द्वारा गुरु तेगबहादुर को गुरु बनाया गया था. गुरुतेग बहादुर के बचपन का नाम त्यागमल था. 14 वर्ष की छोटी सी आयु में अपने पिता के साथ मुगलों के हमले के खिलाफ हुए युद्ध में उन्होंने वीरता का परिचय दिया था. उनकी वीरता से प्रभावित होकर उनके पिता ने उनका नाम त्यागमल से तेगबहादुर (तलवार के धनी) रख दिया.
 Guru Tegh Bahadur, the fifth son of Guru Hargobind Singh, was born in Amritsar (Punjab). Guru Tegh Bahadur was made Guru by public opinion due to the premature death of the eighth Guru of Sikhs 'Harikrishna Rai'. Guruteg Bahadur's childhood name was Tyagmal. At the young age of 14, he showed valor with his father in the war against the attack of the Mughals. Impressed by his valor, his father changed his name from Tyagamal to Tegh Bahadur (rich of swords).
