Shri Jagannath Mandir - New Delhi

With the Blessings of Lord Jagannath, His wishes are being fulfilled. The first step in this regard, the Bhoomi Poojan for construction of a Bhavya Temple in Rohini area was performed on 27th November, 2011 on the land allotted by Delhi Development Authority (DDA) in Sector-24, Rohini, New Delhi. We have come a long way from allotment of land from Delhi Development Authority (DDA) to making payment for the same and then Bhoomi Sudhhi by Sunder Kand path by Sh. Ajya Yagnkji in May, 2011. Bhoomi Poojan program was appreciated from all corners as well organized and attended by more than 5000 devotees. Also commitments amounting to Rs. 50 lacs were made by devotees for construction of Temple. Shri G. S. Patnaik, IAS, Vice Chairman, DDA was the Chief Guest in the function, Dr. Subas Pani, IAS retd and Shri Anil Gupta, CMD KEI Ind. were the guest of honours. Shri Jagannath Rohini Sewa Sangha appeals all devotees of Lord Jagannath to actively participate in the process of construction of Temple in the shape of physical, financial and devotional ways. The Society also appeal to take benefit of the unique scheme of Bhoomi Daan, which is still open till the amount collected in this particular head reaches the actual cost of the land.

Since the sthapana of Lord Jagannath at the Temple in Rohini, New Delhi the devotees are offering puja and performing all rituals as per the tradition. Some of our unforgettable moments are presented here to refresh all the memories.

The main function of Lord Jagannath, the Car Festival (Rath Yatra) is being organized continuously since the year 2006 in which thousands of devotees from various parts of Delhi and adjoining states are participating in the festival every year. The numbers of devotees are increasing manifold with each passing years. The Rath Yatras are being organized in grand gala scale with number of Bhajan and Kirtan groups. Devotees pull the rope of the Rath with singing, dancing and chanting name of Lord Jagannath. Bhandara for all Devotees were available for the whole day. Local residents on the Rath route welcome and offer midway refreshments for all the devotees at various places. People offers Prasad and flowers to the Lord. Distribution of Kanika and fruits Prasad hold on a massive scale. Bhagwat Gitas and other religious articles were distributed by devotees from time to time. Beautifully edited DVDs of Rath Yatra with background of Oriya and Hindi Bhajans were being distributed after the festival.

Round the year various functions like Jhulan Yatra, Janmastami, Chhati,Ganesh Puja, Kartika Purnima, Odhon Sasthi, Makar Sankranti, Maha Shiv Ratri, Basant Panchami, Holi, Akshya trutiya, Pana sankranti, Dev Snana Purnima, Nav Jouban etc. are performed with Bhajan, Kirtan, Odishi dance and cultural programmes followed by Bhandara. As per the wishes of Lord Himself, Prabhat Pheri during Panchuka in the month of Katika were celebrated in grand gala way by covering whole of Rohini involving hundreds of devotees and concludes on Purnima with 5 hours Procession followed by Bhandara

In December 2006, 2008 and January 2011, the society successfully organized 5 days Puri Yatra from Delhi by reserving a full coach of the train and making all other arrangements during the visit. Devotees had a heart touching Darshan of Lord Jagannath, Balbhadra and Subhadra in Puri. All enjoyed delicious Prasad, cool dip in the sea, enjoyable trip to Chilika Lake, Chandrabhaga, Sun temple at Konark and Nandan Kanan Zoo during the trip. The program used to close with a Sunder Kand Path at 108 Hanuman Mandir at Bhubaneswar.

Since the beginning an innovative idea of Dainik Sewa Membership (DSM) was started by the Sangha. All Dainik Sewa members contribute Rupees 5/- per day (Rupees 150/- per month) to meet the running cost of temple and daily puja of Lord Jagannath. Puja is being performed by the priest in the name of all the Dainik Sewa Members on a particular pre-decided date in every month. The member is informed one day before every month for the Puja. The member also gets one Prasad on the same day. All the Life Members & different categories of Members of the Society get one Puja along with Havan and two Prasads on a predecided date every year for the whole life without any payments. All puja materials are provided by the Society.

To provide a platform and an opportunity to interact among all the Dainik Sewa Members and Life Members a get together in each calendar month also being organizing by Shri Jagannath Rohini Sewa Sangha at the Temple. Prasad in monthly get together are sponsored by any one or more devotees.

The Society is also carrying out different charitable activities in addition to the above mentioned religious activities. It has organized various blood donation camps and health checkup camps etc. The Society has concrete plans for religious, social, charitable and spiritual activities in times to come. The Society places its sincere thanks to all the volunteers and pray Lord to bless His sewaks with peace and prosperity.
