Mansa Devi Temple, Haridwar: Mansa Devi Temple, Haridwar  is a Hindu temple dedicated to goddess Mansa Devi in the holy city of Haridwar in the Uttarakhand state of India. The temple is located atop the Bilwa Parvat on the Sivalik Hills, the southernmost mountain chain of the Himalayas. The temple, also known as Bilwa Tirth is one of the Panch Tirth (Five Pilgrimages) within Haridwar. The temple is known for being the holy abode of Mansa Devi, a form of Shakti and is said to have emerged from the mind of the Lord Shiva. Mansa is regarded as the sister of the Nāga (serpent) Vasuki. She is also believed to be the daughter of Lord Shiva in his human incarnate. The term Mansa means wish and it is believed that the goddess fulfils all the wishes of a sincere devotee. The pestering of the Pooja shop agents, and the abysmal crowd management, in spite of there being several so-called security staff, is the only thing I'm going to take away from this visit. Fortunately I've visited this temple several times earlier, and have good memories, but now it is better for aged people, small children etc to avoid visiting this temple. The access path is very narrow, there is no proper ventilation and absolutely no crowd control whatsoever. Just when you think that the hounding by the pooja stalls is over there is another set of pooja shops just outside the temple doors, to further add to tour woes. In both the temples, this one & in Chamundi Devi, the exit path compulsorily takes you through the cafeteria, inviting you to try items whose prices are vastly inflated. A sad experience in a temple that has a lot of devotee presence even on weekdays.

Overall the temple is really good and you can expect plenty of crowd. There are stairs after the gondola ride that needs to be climbed. Restrooms are available and food too. The temple offers a good panoramic view of Haridwar and is known for goddess Manasa Devi.
