★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I have lived with computers for a long time, and I've had very little problem that couldn't be solved by sitting on the phone for several hours with outsourced technicians who didn't care. Highly annoying.
But I had a blue screen of death event which was unprecedented, and I'd spent so much time almost getting it to recover only to be defeated by the machine, that I didn't have the patience for a call with a stranger who, despite telling me how much they appreciated my frustration, didn't.
My experience with 5 Star was beyond exceptional. While there was a little cloak and dagger figuring out where to go (they run out of their home and don't offer the address until later in the communication). They not only repaired my computer, but he talked me through the problem, his solution (updated bios, cleaned for all malware, lost nothing), also gave me instructions for having a recover files disk (all windows installations unique to my personal computer), and did it for a price that (even without the Yelp discount which I did use) would have been much MORE than reasonable. The communication back and forth was great, the personal attention was appreciated, and the turnaround time (less than a week) was much appreciated.
As a one time user of an outside computer repair resource, I highly recommend 5 Star. If I need help again, this is certainly where I'll be.
